It is with great sadness that we share the news of the death of our Treasurer, Trustee and good friend Martin Gerrard.
Martin was a stalwart of the Yorkshire Young Achievers Foundation and many of those of you who attended our Gala Dinners or launches will have met him. He became a Trustee in 2018 and took on the role of Treasurer in 2022. He also sponsored the Achievement in the Arts category in 2019 and 2022.
He was diagnosed with cancer at the beginning of this year and died at Saint Michael’s Hospice in Harrogate last week.
Foundation Chairman Peter McCormick OBE said: “Martin will be a huge loss not only to the Foundation and all of those involved in it but also to the wider community in Harrogate and district where he was very active in many organisations, including Harrogate Chamber of Commerce.
“He had boundless enthusiasm for both the charity and the arts and it was fantastic that he was able to combine these interests through his long-term support for the Achievement in the Arts Award, first with Barclays and then, after his retirement from the bank, as an individual.”
We send sincere condolences to his family and to all those who knew and admired him.
